In the 82nd minute, David Beckham was substituted in what could be his final appearance on a football pitch. He hugged his teammates, and broke down as he left the field to a standing ovation from the Paris supporters. This man never played for a club that I supported, but I had the utmost respect for him. He was my favourite player when I was younger, and like many my age at the time, I wanted to grow up to “Bend It Like Beckham” and to play football the way he did. He is an outstanding role model to all young footballers and a great ambassador for the game. He may never grace a field again, but David Beckham will be someone that I will look up to and admire for as long as I live.
